HBS Disciplines Students For Sexual Harassment
Six male students from Harvard Business School were officially sanctioned for sexual harassment, following allegations made 18 months prior. The harassment involved sending sexually explicit notes during classes, unwelcome physical contact, and privacy violations, affecting both male and female students. Despite complaints throughout the 1996-1997 academic year, action was delayed due to victims' reluctance to file formal complaints and the Faculty and Staff Standards Committee (FSSC) revising its procedures. Eventually, under pressure, the FSSC initiated the complaints themselves. HBS Dean Kim B. Clark acknowledged the delay and apologized to the community. The perpetrators, all from the same section, were required to perform community service and some were barred from attending graduation, but all would still receive their diplomas.| Creator |
