IRC Passes Ethics Resolution To Fight Rumors of Sexism
The International Relations Council passed a resolution to establish an ethics code for its elections, prompted by rumors circulated by male members that women in executive positions were elected through sexual favors to male leaders. The statement, signed by 18 board members and four women, aims to prevent irresponsible electioneering and sexual discrimination. IRC President David Furth and member Joan B. Breen emphasized that the rumors were false and targeted competent women. Robin L. Hacke highlighted that such issues are common across undergraduate organizations and suggested a conference for women in leadership to address these problems.| Creator |
