Design School Professor Sues Harvard for Failure to Address Discrimination Allegations
Harvard Graduate School of Design associate professor Bing Wang has filed a lawsuit against Harvard, alleging that the university failed to address her race- and gender-based discrimination complaints against GSD professor Jerold S. Kayden. Wang claims that Kayden systematically belittled and discriminated against her for over a decade and that GSD Dean Sarah Whiting and the university retaliated against her after she raised these complaints. Kayden is accused of disrespectful behavior and opposition to Wang's promotions. The lawsuit also alleges that GSD administrators ignored Wang's discrimination complaints. In 2023, GSD denied Wang a review to continue teaching beyond June 2025. The case follows broader issues at GSD related to diversity and inclusion, highlighted by the 2019 "Shitty Architecture Men" spreadsheet.| Creator |
