Fine Arts Students To Propose Reforms
Following allegations of sex discrimination and inadequate advising in the Fine Arts department, a five-student ad hoc committee and faculty members met over the summer to develop reforms for the fall. While specific recommendations remain undisclosed, the meetings addressed various longstanding issues. The dialogue, initially prompted by discrimination claims, focused on improving the advising system, fellowship programs, and student life. The committee was formed after 35 female graduate students and a junior faculty member highlighted grievances related to poor advising, fellowship support, and unequal treatment. The faculty responded to these concerns, acknowledging many as valid. The committee's recommendations will be reviewed by the full department in the fall.| Creator |
