B-School Issues Placement Guidelines
The Harvard Business School recently established formal, sex-blind guidelines for its student and alumni placement services in response to a sex discrimination complaint filed by Susanne S. Paul, a 1961 graduate of a now-defunct women's program. Paul, who previously won a 1970 suit against the Harvard Business School Club of New York for discrimination, expressed dissatisfaction with the new guidelines, calling them "totally inadequate" and threatening to file another suit unless the school takes affirmative steps to investigate the placement of women graduates. The Business School, maintaining its non-discriminatory placement policy, renamed its Alumni Placement Office to the Graduate Placement Office and distributed the new guidelines to relevant business school clubs.| Creator |
