More Than a Week-Long Project: Taking Back Night and Day
The annual Take Back the Night (TBTN) rally at Harvard, part of a national week dedicated to raising awareness about sexual violence, featured survivors sharing their experiences and reclaiming their sense of safety. Organized by the Harvard Women's Center, the rally highlighted the ongoing issue of violence against women. TBTN at Harvard also included discussions on topics like online privacy and international women's rights, aimed at empowering women to confront both overt and subtle forms of violence. The week's events, including a symbolic "eat-in" to challenge unhealthy body image standards, emphasized reclaiming both voices and bodies from societal pressures. Through activities such as creating anti-advertising murals, the participants targeted the advertising industry for perpetuating harmful gender norms. The rally underscored the continued prevalence of domestic violence and the importance of collective action against all forms of gender-based violence, both visible and hidden.| Creator |
