Students Shoulder Mattresses in Solidarity with Sexual Assault Victims

Students participated in "Carry That Weight," a nationwide campaign in support of sexual assault victims, by carrying mattresses around Harvard Yard. This event was inspired by Columbia University student Emma Sulkowicz, who carried her dorm mattress to protest her alleged rapist's continued presence on campus. The mattresses symbolized the burden of rape, with collective carrying representing community support. Participants wore red Xs and purple ribbons to raise awareness. Various student groups and the Office of Sexual Assault Prevention and Response were involved, emphasizing the need for ongoing advocacy.
