Kennedy School Sexism

The author critiques the John F. Kennedy School of Government for its significant gender disparities and lack of female representation. Despite President Kennedy's efforts to eliminate sex discrimination in federal employment, the Kennedy School has only one tenured female faculty member, a scarcity of female lecturers, and few women in its case studies. Discrimination and harassment are often dismissed as communication problems, and women are advised against challenging gender-specific language. The author calls for the inclusion of women and minorities in public policy discussions, recruitment of female faculty and students, and development of case studies addressing gender issues. She warns that without these changes, the Kennedy School's programs will remain male-centric.
