One Year After an External Review into Sexual Harassment at Harvard, Three Recommendations Remain Unfulfilled
Three months after a review highlighted a "permissive culture" of sexual harassment at Harvard detailing how Jorge I. Domínguez, former Government Professor, harassed women over three decades but was still promoted, President Bacow expressed confidence in procedural changes made in the wake. Despite improvements in handling such cases, Harvard has yet to implement three key recommendations from the review, standardizing faculty vetting for misconduct, creating a centralized personnel database, and establishing review cycles for departments to assess misconduct. Harvard has made strides in revising its sexual misconduct training and online resources, however, challenges remain, such as improving the gender balance among faculty and ensuring a culture that discourages harassment. As evidence, critics point to ongoing legal actions against the university.| Creator |
