Left, Right Extremes Clashed on Campus
In this article, alumni from the 1980's and 90's recall their experiences at Harvard, from the perspectives of both conservatives and BGLTQ students involved in the burgeoning gay rights movement. One conservative alumnus shares that he felt very isolated on campus for his viewpoints, and describes the founding of the Peninsula as a conservative campus publication. On the other hand, students involved in BGLT life shared how, despite Harvard's surface-level promise of non discrimination, campus culture was still not necessarily safe or welcoming for BGLT students. The alumni recount conflicts between their groups regarding incidents such as a gay student being harassed during a Mather House Dance.| Creator |
