FAS Office, Not ODR, Still Handling Faculty Misconduct Cases
The newly-formed Office for Sexual and Gender-Based Dispute Resolution (ODR) at Harvard will not handle cases of sexual misconduct by Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS) members. Instead, the Office for Faculty Affairs (OFA) will continue to investigate and adjudicate these complaints, focusing initially on student-related issues. University Title IX Officer Mia Karvonides and FAS Dean Michael D. Smith emphasized that the priority is on addressing student procedures before possibly transitioning faculty cases. History professor Alison Frank Johnson, chairing the FAS Committee on Sexual Misconduct Policy and Procedures, indicated that while faculty cases remain under OFA, they are now held to the same standards and processes as student cases under the new policy, including a shortened investigation timeline and the "preponderance of the evidence" standard.| Creator |
