Women Harassed by Domínguez Say Harvard’s Investigatory Procedures Remain Insufficient

Two victims of sexual misconduct by former Harvard Government professor Jorge I. Domínguez criticized an external review's findings on his case and called for stronger measures against sexual harassment. Domínguez had been accused by 18 women of sexual misconduct spanning four decades. Despite being found guilty of harassment in 1983, Domínguez continued to hold significant positions at Harvard. The review highlighted Harvard's failure to enforce its sanctions and noted institutional memory lapses. Former Government assistant professor Terry L. Karl, a victim, disputed the review's praise for Harvard's 1983 response, noting that sexual harassment had been illegal since 1980 and criticizing the University's failure to act on known information. Karl argued that Harvard's inaction allowed Domínguez to rise in ranks and continue his misconduct.
