Harvard Restores Prof. Fryer’s Teaching, Research Roles After Two-Year Sexual Harassment Suspension
Economics professor Roland G. Fryer Jr. is set to resume teaching and research at Harvard after a two-year suspension for violating sexual harassment policies, according to an email from Dean Lawrence D. Bobo to the Economics department. Although Fryer will be allowed to teach, he will not hold any advisory or supervisory roles for the next two years, and his teaching will be subject to conditions set by FAS Dean Claudine Gay. Fryer completed training on sexual harassment, boundary setting, and power dynamics during his suspension. The suspension followed an investigation that found Fryer had verbally harassed female staffers and created a hostile work environment at his former lab, which has since been closed. Fryer acknowledged his inappropriate behavior and apologized for his actions, expressing regret and outlining steps he has taken to make amends and prevent future misconduct.| Creator |
