Woman Brings Charges Against B-School Club

The Harvard Business School Club of New York faces charges of discrimination for excluding women from its job counseling meetings. Suzanne S. Paul, a 1961 graduate of a Harvard Business School women's program, filed the complaint after being denied entry to a meeting led by Carl R. Boll, the club’s director of placement. Boll has counseled Business School graduates for over 30 years but excludes women from his Thursday evening sessions, claiming men prefer not to discuss job issues in their presence. Harvard officials, unaware of this practice until Paul's complaint, have urged the club to provide equal services to women and suspended referrals to Boll’s meetings. Paul seeks broader changes to end discriminatory practices rather than a personal resolution.
