Group Works to Keep Women in Sciences
In response to concerns that Harvard's science departments may be inhospitable to women, a group of women science concentrators, faculty, and administrators organized the first-ever "Harvard-Radcliffe Science Alliance" conference for 32 female first-year students interested in sciences. Held over three days, the conference aimed to introduce participants to various scientific fields through lectures, career panels, and tours of science facilities. Participants appreciated the conference, feeling it provided a supportive network and helped dispel myths about women in science. The Science Alliance plans to continue supporting women in science through a Big Sister/Little Sister program and hopes to make the conference an annual event, pending participant evaluations.| Creator |
