Majority of Surveyed Harvard Faculty Object to Embattled Professor Comaroff’s Return to Classroom
More than 50% of Harvard faculty respondents to The Crimson’s annual survey believe that professor John L. Comaroff, accused of sexual harassment and professional retaliation, should not have been allowed to return to teaching. Additionally, 67% of female-identifying respondents objected to Comaroff’s return, compared to 44% of male-identifying respondents. The survey, which collected 386 responses from over 1,300 distributed surveys, also revealed faculty concerns about Harvard's Title IX policies, with 36% disagreeing that the Office for Gender Equity and Office for Dispute Resolution are adequately equipped to handle sex and gender-based discrimination issues. Furthermore, 31% of respondents reported knowing someone in their department who was sexually harassed, and 7% reported experiencing sexual harassment themselves.| Creator |
