University Guard Faces Rape Charge
Robert E. Mason, a 22-year-old Harvard security guard, has been charged with raping a co-worker at the Fogg Art Museum. Mason, employed by the University since November 1981, allegedly raped the female guard after coming on duty at midnight. Following a preliminary investigation, University Police Chief Saul L. Chafin suspended Mason without pay on April 4. Mason, who posted $1000 bail, plans to hire an attorney before his trial on April 22. Chafin emphasized that this incident should not reflect on other Harvard security employees and assured that student safety is not compromised.| Creator |
